Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati has slammed the Samajwadi Party for the widespread outrage and condemnation surrounding the recent vulgar, indecent, and offensive remarks and statements made by a prominent national spokesperson of the party against the Brahmin community.

“Despite the police filing a case, the matter remains unabated. However, the silence of the SP leadership, which practices narrow caste-based politics, is further escalating the situation. As a result, the situation is becoming increasingly tense. In any case, the SP spokesperson’s irresponsible statement has seriously hurt the Brahmin community’s dignity and self-respect. It would be appropriate for the SP chief to take immediate cognisance of the matter and apologise and express remorse to the Brahmin community,” she said in a social media post on Friday.

The BSP supremo further said that this latest incident has proved that the SP’s casteist tactics and character, especially against the Brahmin community, much like their attitude towards Dalits, most backward classes, and Muslims, have not changed, but have only deepened. She added that, along with this, the strong resentment within the Brahmin community regarding the attitude of the present government towards the Brahmin community is also not hidden from anyone.

“It is well known that like all other communities, the BSP has given full respect and honour to the Brahmin community in the party and the government, ensuring their proper representation at every level. In the BSP, there is no ‘use and throw’ policy; rather the interests of all communities have always been protected,” Mayawati said.
